My story...

My favourite present I ever had was a set of 50 felt tip pens which my Mum bought me when I was 6 years old, in bed with chicken pox. There was every colour of the rainbow and even more than one shade of each colour - amazing! The problem I had, though, was that my colouring book only featured giant dogs and horses. All these beautiful shades of pinks, purples and greens ... and one brown felt tip which ran out before I had even finished colouring the labrador’s head. Disappointing. So, I coloured my cousin Mark’s face instead, using every beautiful shade of every un-washable colour in my set.

Now, almost 20 years later (haha), I still like to paint - on canvas, not my relatives - and after trying many different subjects I came full circle back to animals. Of course, a lot of animals are brown, or black, or white, but I have learnt to use ALL of my colours to help me get just the right shade for the variety of four legged subjects I love to paint.

So thank you, Mum, for my pens and countless reams of paper and colouring books (and your nephew’s face) over the years, and for Nimble, Chico and Bubbles who made me the animal lover I am today.
